June 2017 Blogging Income Report

Well guys, June has came and it has went. I would like to say that all of my goals for my little blog were achieved for this month, alas, this is not the case. What I can say however, is that I have learned A LOT! This being said, I fully intend for July to be big for my blog, and I have a couple of things in my box of tricks to make it happen, but in the meantime, here was how my June went!

Income

Guess what! I added a new affiliate this month, which sets this report apart from my May 2017 Blogging Income Report. This was pretty big for me, though I am still very much so in the trial stage with them, so some changes could be made before next month. Here is how I did overall.

  • Google Adsense- $17.32
  • Share-a-Sale- $0.00
  • Bluehost-$0.00
  • Amazon-$0.00
  • Media.Net-$0.66

Total Income for June: $17.98

So Media.Net is my newest affiliate, and while I have only been using them for a week and I still do not know how I made money with them, I am impressed so far. Media.Net hosts the ads for Yahoo and Bing, and when you sign up to work as an advertiser for them, you get an account manager to help you to work through things. While I have not utilized my account manager yet, I plan to do so this month to maximize my earning potential. Just FYI, I do not have an account manager that I am aware of with any of my other affiliate sites I am working with, so this is super cool!

As for Amazon, Share-a-Sale, and Bluehost, yeah, I am still working on those. You will likely be hearing more from me this month about some of the Amazon features, especially with the crazy Prime Day 2017 specials coming up. Did you know it is supposed to be bigger than Black Friday?

Traffic

While my traffic did not take the substantial leap that I would have liked it to this month, I can honestly say I did manage to maintain some of my numbers from May. While I was not overly excited that my traffic had not risen, I did step back and look at the differences in the amount of time that I had spent on my blog in June vs. May. I found that I spent quite a bit less time in June driving traffic and producing posts. This being said, I managed to maintain my traffic, which shows growth in my book.

Anyway, for those who want to know the numbers, this is what I saw in June:

Visitors: 1378

Traffic was definitely not where it could have been. I am not going to lie though. For the minimal amount of work I put into this month, I think it looks pretty good.

Posts

Yep. I am not super proud of this one, but my blog posts for the month totaled to a grand total of 5. The good part is, I felt that all 5 posts were good content and I really enjoyed writing them. A couple of my highlights:

Busiest: 5 things to do 30 minutes before company to make your house look cleaner (This one is for those who procrastinate on house cleaning until they find out company is coming. Not that I have ever done that.)

Favorite: The Birth of a Mommy (This is the story of how my oldest child made me a mommy, well before I was ready to be one. Grab a tissue, I have apparently been making people cry with this one.)

Newest: 6 things to do for FREE with your kids this Summer (Yes, I have totally been doing all of these. Yes, this is a good part of the reason I didn’t devote the time I should have to my blog this month. #momlife yo.)

If you have not checked out one of these posts, please take a minute to see if one appeals to you. I really have a blast writing all of my posts, and they are never cut and dry because, let’s face it, I have to many opinions.

Goals

***DISCLOSURE- I know I totally did not hit several of my goals set for this month. As I said, I spent this month chasing my kids through the fun, memory-making adventures that they (and I) need to be having. Being a stay-at-home mom has allowed me more time to do things like this with them, and I love having the time to play. This being said, I will be utilizing more scheduling tools to organize my day’s moving forward. I want to remain a stay-at-home mom, and I know that a bloggers income will help at some point in the future. For June however, I am taking the failures as learning experiences and moving forward. Enough ramble, on to how I did.***

Continue to Increase Income: I had a goal set to make $100 this month. Let’s just say, I feel short. Like, $82.02 short. I did manage to increase my income this month, however, so I guess I hit at least part of this goal.

So I will not be buying a vacation home in Denver this month, but there is always July, right?

Create my Newsletter: Yep, nope. I completely failed at this. However, I did find that the plug-in I have will allow me to e-mail directly to my subscribers. This being said a newsletter for this month is totally within the realm of shit I will get done. For real this time.

Create my First Printable: Um…so this goal list was kind of embarrassing. This totally didn’t get done either. On another good note, however, I totally have my ideas down for my first several printables, and so this should also be easily executed this month.

What did I Accomplish?

Ok, so now you are probably thinking I did nothing all month. Here is the real story.

Twitter– Remember how I told you last month I was going to focus on growing my Twitter following? Success! I went from just shy of 900 followers at the beginning of June, to 2,417 followers as of this morning. That is a pretty decent jump if you ask me!

Instagram– Yeah, I got one of those. I know NOTHING about Instagram, so this has been a huge learning curve. I have however gone from 0 followers – 623 followers in less than a month, so I am figuring something out.

Coursework- The other big thing I did this month? I took an amazing course on how to build my traffic using Pinterest. Not going to lie, I am so freaking excited to put everything into play that I learned in this course! It is going to really help my goals for my July traffic!

This Month

Yes, I am setting goals for this month. Not because I intend to come back next month to confess that I did not accomplish them, but because I plan to smash them this month. July is going to be big for me folks.

Increase Traffic: This month I plan to have at least 4000 views. If I accomplish this, it will put my lifetime views at over 10,000. This is pretty big for a blog that has not been up for even 6 months. Once I hit this goal, I will be going live on Facebook, so look forward to that.

Increase Income: Yep, I am going to increase my income again this month. Even if it is only by a few dollars. I have a few ideas on the horizon in order to accomplish this, and I cannot wait to report about how they work.

Complete Last Month’s Goals: Subscribers, watch your inbox. That first Newsletter is coming to you this week. Regular visitors, get ready, my first printable will be up this month. I am smashing my goals this month guys. It is happening.

Increase Social Media Following: I have been expanding my horizons on social media in June, and I plan to continue in July. I really want to continue to see steady growth across all platforms. Hopefully, I will have some pretty awesome traffic increase due to this as well.

Alright, guys. I know that was a long one, and to those of you who stuck with me, thank you. I am so excited that I have keep this going for the last 3 months, and I am even more excited to see what my little blog can achieve in it’s first year. If you have any questions, or are considering starting your own blog, please drop me a comment below! I would love to hear from you. I hope everyone has a great July!

  1. Looks like it was a month of growth for you even though you didn’t meet all your goals. Nice work! I’m in the same boat being a SAHM and being so busy with the kids during the summer. Blogging has to take a backseat sometimes! What is the Pinterest course you took? I have been thinking about taking one as well but it’s hard to figure out a good one as so many people are affiliates and I’m looking for an honest recommendation!

    1. Thank you Caitlin! It is totally a bummer to be putting my blog on the backburner, but honestly, my kids are loving being out and about so it is totally worth it!

The course I took was actually free, which was totally awesome, but I am highly debating taking their paid course as well. Beth Anne over at http://www.brilliantbusinessmoms.com put it on and it was amazing! She also has a lot of free resources she gives out as well. She is hosting another free one on the 30th, and you should totally check it out! It opened my eyes about a lot of things. You can sign up for it here https://brilliantbusinessmoms.lpages.co/double-pinterest-traffic-free-class/

Best of luck to you this month!

    1. Honestly, it starts with brainstorming. I keep a notebook where I write my post ideas as they come to me. Then, I try to sit down and actually write on those ideas at least an hour a day. It takes some discipline, and I am working on getting better at my own writing habits, but it is so worth it in the end!

      Best of luck to you!
