Perfect Gifts for your Baby under One Year of Age

So not to be anxiety inducing, but let’s face it guys. Christmas is right around the corner. In case you haven’t noticed, the stores are already sneaking up the Christmas decor and starting to play those all-too-familiar carols.

This being said, buying Christmas gifts can become one of the most daunting tasks of the season. This is especially true when you are not sure what to get someone on your list. One of the hardest age groups to shop for, are those on your list who are under the age of 1. Yep, what are you supposed to buy a baby for Christmas? You know they are not going to be able to unwrap their own gifts, and honestly, there are so many things out there. How do you choose gifts that will actually be utilized?

I am being faced with this problem myself this Christmas. With my little Ellie being only 10 months of age at Christmas time, I have had several family members asking what to buy her, or what she needs.

Truth is, she doesn’t really “need” anything. She is a baby and the essentials are really already covered. The following though are the things that I have come up with that I know based on experience with her older brother, and her own favoritism towards certain toys, that she will enjoy this Christmas season.

Portable High Chair/Activity Center

Ok, so if you have not yet seen one of these items, they are seriously cool. The best thing about the portable high chairs and activity centers are that they collapse to almost nothing. This makes taking them with you to the beach, camping, or even just out to do yard work is a breeze. Not only that, but the canvas material that most of these chairs are made out of are extremely wipe-able making them easy to clean up after use.

Both of these products will not only make baby happy, but are also going to make mommy happy. I do not know about you, but this mommy is always happy when the baby is contained AND entertained. Both of these make it easy for me to set Ellie up in them,

give her a couple toys to play with, and go about with my to do list while she plays. Only thing that would make this better is Starbucks.

Baby Carrier

If you do not already have a baby carrier, Christmas is the perfect time to get one for your baby! (Yes, I know you are getting the print and the style that YOU love, but don’t worry, we will tell them it is for the baby. They are the ones who are going to get to ride in it after all, right?)

While I honestly love any carrier that allows you to wear your baby, I have to admit, I am a Tula snob. I love the ease and support that the Tula carriers provide. Want to know a little secret? My 14lb baby and my 36lb toddler fit in the same Tula carrier. Plus, they come in all kinds of super cute designs, so it is easy to find one that you absolutely love!

Feeding Sets

What do babies love to do? Eat!

I do not know about you, but one thing that we cannot get enough of is feeding supplies. From spoons and bibs, to bowls and cups, the diaper bag is constantly eating spoons I know I had 5 minutes ago. This leaves me scrounging for new feeding supplies. When it isn’t the diaper bag gobbling up my supplies, my baby throwing her brand new cup down on a stroller ride, and forgetting to tell me she dropped it. Yeah, super helpful.

Seriously though, you cannot go wrong with feeding supplies as a gift. They are costly, and Mom and Dad will totally appreciate you thinking of this gift when they cannot find the lid to yet another sippy cup. (I swear they have legs and they just run far, far away.)

Stuffed Animals

If you need help deciding on a cute, new stuffed animal to buy your little loved one, I totally recommend this stuffed elephant. My heart literally melts every time I see it because I cannot wait for my little Ellie to watch me open hers on Christmas day.

Teething Toys

I love the Infantino elephant and lamb. My little Ellie has the elephant and it is one of her favorite toys! I also recommend looking into this banana toothbrush, as it is stimulating to baby’s gums and easy for baby to grasp onto while he/she is headed to gnaw town on this toy.

Blankets

Another thing to keep in mind is that blankets are so easy to personalize.  This makes it simple to turn a blanket into something special. From monogramming those bad boys to ordering the super cute fabrics you love off Etsy, there are so many ways to make these your own!

O-Ball Toys

Ok, so as far as baby toys go, O-ball is at the top of my list. This is because the design of their toys makes it so easy for babies to grasp them, making playtime easier. Plus, they have several different designs of toys, so there is literally something for everyone.

Also, their toys are not that expensive, do not require batteries, and do not light up or sing obnoxiously when you just want baby to be having quiet playtime so you can enjoy your now cold coffee in peace. A mom can dream, right?

Baby Projectors

These projectors literally come in all shapes and sizes. While I have tried a couple of different ones, my favorites are the battery-operated animal ones. These project tiny little stars onto the ceiling for babies to watch while they are trying to fall asleep. Many of them change colors and also play lullabies for your baby.

No joke, this is the device that kept me from losing my shit when Ellie was about 4 months old and learning to sleep in her own room. I would put her to bed, turn on her hippo, and walk away. She would honestly fuss only until she found the stars. Then I could sit and listen to her coo for several minutes at the pretty lights until she finally fell asleep. Lifesaver.
