Finding your Perfect Mom Hustle

Being a stay-at-home mom can be enough to drive you insane. Playing taxi, housemaid, chef, personal assistant…the list goes on and on. Yet at the end of the day, sometimes you just need something more to make things seem complete. Something that makes you feel accomplished in yourself. Something, like a mom hustle.

But with all of the hustles out there for stay-at-home mothers to dive into nowadays, how do you find the one that is right for you? Where do you even start?

Below is a list of “mom hustles” that I most often see stay-at-home mom’s engaging in. Most of them, I have even hustled at myself, to be honest. While this list by far does not include any and every hustle you could muster, it is a pretty decent starting point for the mom who is looking to do something more.

Crafting/Baked Goods

Are you a crafty mama? Then get to it!

Thanks to the world of Etsy and Facebook, starting your own crafting or baking business is easier than ever! Gone are the days of having to seek out an audience to buy your goods. Simply start crafting, and plaster that shit all over your Facebook feed.

If you are good at what you are crafting, your clientele will come to you! I have friends who sell cookies, cakes, signs, and furniture. Heck, I have sold wreaths and hairbows this way several times! It is a good market if you have a skill at making something, you just have to be ready to put yourself out there.

If you do not hit it on Facebook, go try your hand on Etsy! People are always looking for all kinds of random things, and maybe you will be the person who hits the jackpot market.

Direct Sales

I know, I know.

Getting Facebook invites to all of those online parties can be a pain in the ass. But if you are the right kind of person, having a direct sale as a mom hustle can be a golden ticket move!

There is a direct-sell company for so many different products, so there are a lot of options out there! Candles, food, bags, cookware, books…the possibilities are pretty well limitless since there is a new company popping up all the time!

You set your own hours. Determine how much/ how often you want to work. Plus, you generally do not have to hit any big quotas to keep it going.

Not only that, but there is always a great deal on the direct sale starter kits, so choosing a product you really love will land you with a UPS delivery that seems like Christmas morning!

Survey Sites

Want to make some of that extra cash, but not quite thrilled by any kind of commitment? Try jumping on the survey site bandwagon!

With so many companies out there who are looking for consumer opinions, there is always a site that is more than happy to pay you for your opinion.

No way that you are going to get rich overnight with this mom hustle, but if you keep on them in your free time, survey sites can definitely put a little extra cash into your pocket.

Blogging

As far as my mom hustle game goes, blogging has by far been my personal favorite.

Want to share your opinions across the vast world of the internet? Get paid to do it? Set your own hours, yet work your ass off for something that you are entirely responsible for from the ground up?

Blogging might be for you.

Seriously though, building a blog, and thus, a brand, can be a ton of work, but is one of the most rewarding hustles in the sense that, at the end of the day, this business is completely mine. If you need that kind of validation in your life as well, check out my post on how to start your own blog within an hour.

Virtual Assistant

If you have a few minutes a day to spend in front of a computer and are passionate about making a few extra bucks, you need to look into becoming a VA.

People all over the internet have virtual assistants for everything. Scheduling meetings, typing notes, promoting brands. Some VAs get paid just to share blog posts across social media. Plus, VAs can make anywhere from a couple of bucks, to $20-$30/hour depending on what they are doing.

Pretty sweet for a mom hustle, eh?

Crazy Mom Talk

While a mom hustle may not be for every mama out there, for some, their hustle is what keeps their sanity in check.

This has definitely been the case for me. After having my son, I tried the stay-at-home mom gig and found myself depressed, anxiety-ridden, and borderline crazy. (Not an official diagnosis, they will not let me be a doctor. More a guesstimation for official records)

Therefore when my husband and I started talking about me becoming a stay-at-home mom following the birth of our youngest, I knew I was going to have to have a serious side hustle or I would lose my mind.

Today, I would not trade my mom’s hustle for the world. (Okay, those who know me can totally call me out here that I am running several, not just one.)
